PDP

For my PDP I have talked about the people who I aspire to be because of their outstanding work.
For my career choice I'm am hoping that I one day will be a successful creative retoucher, I love the work  created by people such as Nick Humphires and Scott Freeman, and would love to work for companies such as Real-Fake, Taylor James and saddington baynes, they are all working at the high end of the creative world producing amazing iniative pieces of work.

One of my favourite pieces created by Real Fake is work they did for a cat litter company called Fresh Step, they made the advertisement show the cats holding themselves going to the toilet, they are obviously waiting for their owner to put out the 'Fresh Step'.

The last in a series of images we put together for FreshStep! Check it out in the latest issue of Real Simple magazine.

Another image we put together for Fresh Step!

I absolutely love these images, I think they work really well with the company, and made light of a product that isn't the nicest of things. These are just two of the images designed buy the company, there are a few more which are equally as good.
On their website which I really found interesting was them showing how they had created the images, this gave me an insight to how it's done and with practice I do believe that I too could be producing work like this.

When talking about what kind of portfolio I wish to create I decided that my own personal website would be most suited for me, I particularly like Nick Knights website, it is so minimal with next to no writing on it, just simply the bare minimum needed, but then he exhibits fantastic pieces of work.

Now that I have more of an idea of which area of design I want to go in to I can start looking out for jobs, although I am not ready for one now as I still have a lot to learn I think that it is important for me to know what is out there, where the jobs are, what skills I need for them and when the time is right I will be confident in applying.
Sites I often use to look at jobs is creativepool (http://www.creativepool.co.uk/)
I think that this is a good site to use, and gives other useful infomation such as interview tips, help on creating your portfolio etc. There is also an option of putting yourself on there if you are looking for work so that clients can find you, I like to look at what other people are putting on their web folios so that I have more of an idea what I should do for mine and also so I can see what I am up against.

Another site which I love is Society6, it is a site which thousands of designers add their work to, either just for other designers to see or for them to try and start selling work. I think this is a great way of getting confidence when starting out, other designers and comment and compliment you on your work.
It again is also a great way to see what other designers are creating.

I am also a member of 'Design Milk' on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/designmilk)
They add daily images, blogs, competitions, information etc all about design.
I think it's important to know what is going on in the world of design if that's the career you want to be in.
You need to be in the know.
